About the position

The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) position at Clenera offers an opportunity to work in the sustainable energy sector without the constraints of public accounting firm politics. This role focuses on advanced accounting functions, including financial statement analysis, month-end and year-end closings, tax compliance, and internal auditing. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment that requires research, critical thinking, and adaptability to change.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review a variety of financial transactions for completeness, accuracy, and conformity with accounting policies, GAAP, and regulatory standards.
  • Review and occasionally prepare journal entries, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and other month-end close activities.
  • Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax liability.
  • Review and confirm consolidated financial statements for investors and regulatory agencies.
  • Inspect complex contracts for accounting requirements and recommend solutions for discrepancies.
  • Manage solar projects, holding companies, and consolidations, preparing financials including ME and CF Statements, and revenue recognition.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with preparation of federal, state, and local tax compliance and quarterly HLBV entries.
  • Be the primary contact for recurring discussions during annual audits.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to maintain project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • CPA certification
  • Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze complex data and situations
  • Exceptional organizational skills and time management
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines and projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • SOX compliance implementation experience (2 years preferred)
