About the position

Omlin, Gunning & Associates, PS is a well-established family-friendly public accounting firm located in north Spokane, dedicated to providing quality services for many years. We are currently seeking a full-time Professional CPA or a candidate with equivalent qualifications to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the role involves working closely with clients and collaborating with various professionals within our firm. The responsibilities of this position include not only the preparation and review of tax returns but also the research of tax laws to ensure compliance with federal and state tax codes. The candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask under pressure and prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for success in this role. The candidate should be comfortable working in both a team environment and independently, showcasing a stable work history and a service-minded attitude to assist clients effectively. In addition to technical skills, the candidate will be expected to meet with clients to develop tax and business strategies, requiring a Professional Tax Identification Number (PTIN). Our firm currently employs a knowledgeable staff that includes 8 CPAs and a total team of 15 members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
  • Research tax law to ensure compliance with federal and state tax codes.
  • Meet with clients to develop tax and business strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals in the firm.
  • Multitask under pressure and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in preparing and reviewing individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Lacerte Tax software is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask under pressure and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and self-manage.
  • Stable work history and service-minded attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in tax law research.
