About the position

Lane & Associates, P.C. is seeking a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our team in Richmond, VA. This full-time position is ideal for an experienced generalist who enjoys working independently in a relaxed office environment. The successful candidate will take on significant responsibilities for all aspects of financial statement engagements, including compilation, review, and audit, as well as tax engagements. The role requires a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial statement preparation, particularly for not-for-profit organizations. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing tax returns for various entities, including corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates, individuals, and not-for-profits. The ideal candidate will possess an active CPA license and have a minimum of three years of experience in public accounting, preferably with a mid-size or small firm. This role offers opportunities for professional development and growth within the firm, as well as the chance to work closely with a diverse range of clients. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, and the position requires in-person attendance at our office. We are looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively while maintaining a high level of accuracy in their work.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for all aspects of financial statement engagements including compilation, review, and audit.
  • Manage tax engagements for various entities such as corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates, individuals, and not-for-profits.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP, particularly for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Utilize professional software for tax preparation and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their financial needs and provide tailored solutions.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation is required.
  • Experience in tax preparation for corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates, individuals, and not-for-profits is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.

Nice-to-haves
