About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to lead our new financial team, collaborating closely with estate planning attorneys. This role focuses on providing accurate financial reporting, analysis, and strategic planning for small businesses and wealthy individuals, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and supporting our financial management objectives. The ideal candidate will have tax preparation experience and strong interpersonal skills for one-on-one meetings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Manage governmental accounting functions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Utilize financial software and tools, including Sage and Excel, for efficient data management.
• Implement accrual accounting practices to accurately reflect the company's financial position.
• Perform double entry bookkeeping to maintain precise financial records.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights for financial planning and tax saving strategies.
• Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives and improve financial processes.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification and licensing is required.
• Proven experience in financial services or a related field, demonstrating strong analytical skills.
• Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage and advanced Excel functions.
• Familiarity with GAAP principles and governmental accounting standards is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of financial management practices, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
