About the position

The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at RoadRunners Gas Stations is responsible for managing financial reporting, compliance, and audit processes within the fuel distribution and retail sector. This role involves providing expert financial advice, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and guiding the bookkeeping team while maintaining strong relationships with management and various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP, tailored to the fuel distribution and retail environment.
  • Conduct audits and manage the audit process for gas station operations and distribution activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations affecting fuel distribution and retail sales.
  • Provide tax planning and consulting services related to fuel taxes and other industry-specific regulations.
  • Manage relationships with lenders, ensuring timely communication and compliance with financing requirements.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management, focusing on profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities specific to fuel pricing and distribution logistics.
  • Guide and supervise the bookkeeping team, providing mentorship and support for their professional development.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations, fuel industry standards, and best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, particularly with vendors and partners in the fuel distribution network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the fuel distribution or retail industry.
  • Experience working with lenders, managing tax compliance, and guiding a bookkeeping team.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, tax laws, and auditing standards specific to the gas and fuel sector.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
