About the position

The North Hampton Police Department is seeking a certified law enforcement officer to serve as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at North Hampton School, a K-8 institution. This role combines law enforcement, counseling, and education, focusing on creating a safe and secure environment for students and staff while engaging positively with the community.

Responsibilities

• Foster positive relationships with students through participation in school activities.
• Engage with students in formal and informal settings, including recreational activities.
• Collaborate with school staff to support a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
• Maintain a safe and secure school environment.
• Provide a presence to deter or identify trespassers and address community concerns around the school area.
• Assist in conflict mediation and support students, parents, and staff.
• Offer guidance on legal matters and safety concerns.
• Act as a positive role model and trusted advisor to students.
• Collaborate with educators to deliver law-related education.
• Conduct classroom presentations to promote responsible citizenship and understanding of the legal system.

Requirements

• Certified law enforcement officer with a minimum of three (3) years of experience (NH or Other).
• A commitment to community service and high moral standards.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with school administration, faculty, and the community.
• Excellent judgement, discretion, and interpersonal skills.
