Responsibilities

  • Inspect, assemble and evaluate surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization, completeness of set, and determine need for repair/replacement.
  • Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to established protocols.
  • Inspect instruments, equipment and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Correct instrument sets according to current standards and established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
  • Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
  • Assist with staff training on sterile principals and the decontamination processes.

Requirements

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: One or more of the following: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Required.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Required.
  • Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
