About the position

The Certified Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and well-being by meticulously cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing reusable surgical instruments. This position is essential in providing all necessary instruments for surgeries and other hospital departments, contributing to the highest standard of care in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble, and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning.
• Identify tray type by contents of instrument tray.
• Identify malfunctioning instruments and replace or report instruments that need repair or are missing.
• Operate and maintain all sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, ultrasonic washers, and cart washers.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all washing, sterilization, daily machine testing, and other relevant records.
• Prepare, assemble, and package all instruments for surgery and other hospital departments.
• Prepare surgical sets, instruments, and trays according to prescribed procedures, ensuring accuracy.
• Pull customized case cart sheets for all surgical procedures and prepare case carts.
• Inventory, maintain, and supply OR storage areas, specialty lockers, carts, and equipment used.
• Audit trays for decontamination, washing, assembly, sterilization, and instrument count sheets.
• Create and maintain accurate records regarding inventories, instrument set content, sterilized goods, and biological test results.

Requirements

• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) certification
• High School Graduate / GED
