About the position
The Certified Surgical Tech will work full-time in the Outpatient Surgery department at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Georgia. This role involves ensuring patient safety and care during surgical procedures, assisting with the preparation of surgical patients, and performing routine and delegated duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to hospital standards and policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of surgical patients and ensure their safety during the intra-operative period.
- Perform routine and delegated duties according to hospital standards and policies.
- Assess and provide basic patient care needs while maintaining patient care standards.
- Function as a member of a healthcare team, demonstrating effective communication and organizational skills.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program or Surgical Technology program.
- Minimum of one year of current operating room experience (student experience allowed).
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Knowledge of basic principles of asepsis and simple biology.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to work independently.
