The Surgical Technician at Frye Regional Medical Center plays a crucial role in facilitating safe and efficient surgical procedures. This position involves preparing the surgical operating suite, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring the availability of necessary instruments and equipment. The technician is expected to be competent in at least three specialty areas and actively participate in daily unit duties to support the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Performs the role of the scrub technician during surgical procedures.
• Uses principles of aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field.
• Facilitates efficient completion of the surgery schedule.
• Maintains an organized work area and participates in daily unit duties.
• Demonstrates competence in at least three specialty areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification for Surgical Technology with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting preferred.
• Competence in at least three specialty areas.
