About the position
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) at Barrett Hospital & HealthCare plays a crucial role in the Peri-Operative/Surgical Services team, responsible for providing patient care to meet identified outcomes and achieve facility goals. This position involves preparing equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgery while ensuring the protection of the sterile area. The CST must have a clear understanding of surgical procedures to anticipate the needs of the surgeon during operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Protect the sterile field during surgeries.
- Assist the surgical team by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
- Provide patient care to meet identified patient outcomes.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
- Valid certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) required.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and electronic medical record documentation.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a clinical setting as a surgical technologist.
- Participation in the Accelerated Alternate Delivery (AAD) Pathway with successful CST certification results.
