About the position

The Certified Teacher for Kindergarten at Irving College Elementary is responsible for fostering a positive learning environment that meets the individual needs of students. The role involves planning and delivering educational programs, assessing student progress, and maintaining classroom order while adhering to district policies and educational goals.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated location and times.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a conducive classroom environment appropriate for the maturity and interests of students.
• Prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs of students.
• Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities of students and provides progress reports as required.
• Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct.
• Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order in a fair manner.
• Makes provisions for availability to students and parents outside instructional hours when required.
• Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating their performance.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
