About the position

The Certified Teacher for Physical Education at Hickory Creek Elementary is responsible for instructing students in physical education, fostering their development into mature and responsible individuals. The role involves creating a conducive learning environment, planning tailored programs of study, and assessing student progress while adhering to district educational goals.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated location and times.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with students' needs and capabilities.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities of students and provides progress reports as required.
• Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct.
• Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order in a fair manner.
• Makes provisions for being available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required.
• Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating their performance.
• Maintains and improves professional competence by attending staff meetings and serving on committees.

Requirements

• Valid Tennessee Teaching License
• Ability to manage and discipline students
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to create engaging lesson plans
• Knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional techniques
