About the position
The Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) at CityVet Capitol Hill plays a crucial role in maintaining high-quality patient care and operational efficiency. This position involves assisting veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures while ensuring effective communication between the operating room and front office staff. The CVT is responsible for relieving veterinarians of technical and administrative tasks, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the practice. Responsibilities
- Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental surgeries.
- Prepare clients for surgery by administering anesthesia and properly restraining animals.
- Supervise unlicensed team members in tasks such as suturing, inducing anesthesia, drawing blood, and taking lab samples.
- Under direct supervision of a Veterinarian, perform suturing, induce anesthesia, administer vaccines, and extract loose teeth or dental fragments.
- Facilitate communication between the operating room and front office staff.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
- Holds a valid State License as Certified Veterinary Technician.
- Understanding and ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
- Knowledgeable in veterinary medical terminology and medication.
