About the position

The Facility Certified Weld Inspector is responsible for overseeing all welding-related activities within the facility, ensuring compliance with customer-specified Arc Welding specifications and standards. This role is crucial for maintaining the quality of welded structures and components, acting as a resource for welding expertise and guidance. The position may be integrated into a supervisory role or function independently, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of the Facility Weld Quality Plan.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and guidance on welding-related activities.
• Serve as the Process Owner of the Facility Weld Quality Plan.
• Maintain and update the welding procedure database and welder qualifications database.
• Determine additional training and qualification needs for welders with quality concerns.
• Maintain a scorecard on Weld Quality Plan implementation and report progress to management.
• Act as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing on welding issues.
• Coordinate with fabrication suppliers to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
• Implement innovative technology in the facility and develop presentations on integration projects.
• Conduct and review welding-related failure analysis.
• Represent the facility on external welding-related committees.

Requirements

• High degree of experience and expertise in various welding fields such as welding process, field repair, and metallurgy.
• Good understanding of product design and process design for manufacturability.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in using ERP Software and Excel programs.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.

• Experience with power-driven equipment.
• Ability to notice work requirements and establish time frames for completion.
