About the position

The Certified Weld Inspector is responsible for providing technical expertise and oversight of all welding-related activities within the facility. This role ensures compliance with customer-specified welding standards and maintains the quality of welded structures and components. The position may be filled by a supervisor or manager or can be a dedicated role focused on welding quality management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and guidance on welding-related activities.
• Maintain the Facility Weld Quality Plan and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Complete and maintain databases for welding procedures and welder qualifications.
• Determine additional training and qualifications for welders with quality concerns.
• Report on the implementation of the Weld Quality Plan to facility management.
• Act as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing on welding issues.
• Coordinate with fabrication suppliers to optimize welding operations.
• Implement innovative technology in the facility and prepare presentations on integration projects.
• Conduct and review welding-related failure analysis.
• Represent the facility on external welding committees.

Requirements

• Valid Welding Certification (CWE and CAWI) with 10 years of experience in welding activities.
• In-depth knowledge of welding safety, processes, and quality certification initiatives.
• Understanding of welding metallurgy, quality systems, and engineering standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in using ERP software and Excel programs.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with robotics and process modeling.
