About the position

The CFD Application Engineer at Flexcompute will be responsible for applying, testing, and developing the Flow360 solver technology. This role emphasizes collaboration with customers and development teams, requiring effective communication and problem-solving skills. The engineer will engage in various CFD applications and contribute to development, education, support, sales, and marketing initiatives, all while working in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply sound engineering judgement and best practices to solve complex fluid dynamics problems.
  • Analyze simulation results, interpret flow physics, and produce quality deliverables that clarify primary takeaways, sensitivities, and recommendations.
  • Develop, test, and maintain workflow automations. Integrate multidisciplinary workflows to streamline the overall analysis process.
  • Support and educate end-users of Flow360. Provide corrective actions, process examples, and recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Collect feedback, requests, and issues from users (internal and external). Document, categorize, prioritize, and distill information to development teams.
  • Lead technical aspects of sales activities including meetings, presentations, demonstrations, and executing benchmarks.
  • Produce materials that are informative, eye-catching, and concise for marketing purposes.
  • Evaluate and propose innovative solutions that enhance Flow360 capabilities and experience.

Requirements

  • A master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with an emphasis on Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to model, simulate, and analyze complex fluid flow and heat transfer scenarios.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying industrial CFD best practices to a broad range of applications. Expertise with a variety of CFD methods is a plus, including experience with open-source and/or commercial CAD, meshing, simulation, and postprocessing software.
  • Demonstrated understanding of CFD principles, theories, and numerical methods. Apply this knowledge to simulate, analyze, and optimize fluid flow and heat transfer phenomena.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and experience with relevant libraries for scientific computing and numerical analysis, such as NumPy, SciPy, and Matplotlib. Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN, etc.).
  • Attention to detail in conducting simulations, testing, and documentation to ensure accurate and reliable results. Possess strong organizational skills and ensure thorough execution of projects, especially within deadline constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment and adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities.
