About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Aiken Regional Medical Center is responsible for maximizing the hospital's financial performance, analyzing profitability, and overseeing financial reporting processes. This role involves acting as a change agent to improve operational efficiency and financial outcomes while developing and motivating staff to achieve high performance. The CFO will also ensure compliance with financial regulations and prepare accurate financial statements and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize hospital financial performance.
  • Analyze the profitability of existing hospital operations, product lines, and contractual agreements, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Act as a change agent to reduce expenses and variation in organization/process/procedures.
  • Focus on metrics to target overall hospital improvement in operations and finance.
  • Participate in the hospital financial reporting process.
  • Supervise the preparation of reports outlining the hospital's financial position and operating profit and loss statement.
  • Participate in the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, hospital association, third party, and other financial reports as required.
  • Develop employees through appropriate management practices, creating a hospital climate to motivate employees to highest performance.
  • Establish direction, coach employees, provide feedback, and build commitment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely-related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant progressive financial experience, preferably in a healthcare organization.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely-related field preferred with a minimum of 8 years of progressive financial experience required.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, and federal and local tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of all business office and administrative office operations, including processes from registration through discharge and terminal resolution of the patient bill.
  • Knowledge of managed care and other payer processes and agreements, including specific terms for negotiation.
  • Knowledge of all accounting processes including accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting.
  • Effective ability to prepare financial statements and operating reports that accurately reflect the entity's performance.
  • Skilled at interpreting financial analysis and performance, preparing schedules and reports, and using electronic spreadsheets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare organizations is strongly preferred.
