About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Novant Health is responsible for safeguarding the organization's assets and ensuring that financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP. This role involves compliance with financial policies, effective internal controls, and the independent assessment of financial risks. The CFO will monitor financial performance, collaborate with various departments, and oversee the revenue cycle process to improve financial outcomes. Additionally, the CFO will evaluate capital project investments and manage capital expenditures based on cash flow projections.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard the facility's assets and ensure financial statements are maintained in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures.
• Establish and monitor effective internal controls, including routine monitoring of controls.
• Identify and assess financial risks, establishing mitigation plans and communicating opportunities.
• Monitor financial performance and maintain appropriate financial plans and forecasts.
• Collaborate with home office departments such as Compliance, Accounting, Information Systems, Internal Audit, Legal, and Treasury.
• Oversee the revenue cycle process and improve it through rate setting, charge capture, managed care negotiations, and cash collections.
• Evaluate and manage investments in capital projects, determining financial impact and ROI, and managing capital spend according to cash flow projections.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
• At least ten years of progressive financial healthcare or equivalent experience in general accounting, operations, financial systems, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience in multi-discipline management and ethics is required.
• MBA, MHA, and/or CPA designation is preferred.
