About the position

Robert Half is seeking an interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for our client in the banking industry. The position is based in Summit, New Jersey, and will be fully onsite - 5 days a week. This role will involve overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the bank, including the management of investment portfolios and treasury management. Prior experience with a small bank employer is highly preferred. The CFO will be responsible for ensuring compliance with banking regulations and will play a critical role in the strategic planning and decision-making processes at the executive level. This position requires a strong leader who can manage the bank's financial activities and ensure adherence to accounting principles and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial leadership, with a focus on capital management and investment operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial and accounting operations, ensuring compliance with banking regulations
• Manage the bank's investment portfolio, including certificates of deposit and government bonds
• Oversee the bank's treasury functions, including auditing and capital management
• Ensure adherence to accounting principles in the execution of all accounting functions
• Monitor and manage the bank's compliance audit procedures
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, ensuring efficient and accurate processing
• Participate in strategic planning and decision-making at the executive level to align financial management with short and long-term objectives
• Liaise with other executive team members to make decisions on operational activities and set strategic goals
• Ensure compliance with all internal controls, financial regulations and bank regulations
• Continuously review and analyze the bank's financial status and performance and report on both current and future trends.

Requirements

• Must hold a minimum of 7 years' experience in a financial leadership role
• Proficient in Accounting Functions and Accounting Operations
• Demonstrable experience in Auditing and Compliance Audit
• Expertise in Capital Management and Investment Operations
• Familiarity with Certificates of Deposit, Government Bonds and Treasury functions
• Understanding of Accounting Principles
• Knowledge of Bank Regulation and Banking compliance is essential
• Ability to manage, direct and oversee all financial activities of the organization
• Strong analytical, strategic planning and execution skills
• Excellent leadership, management and communication abilities
• Advanced degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred
• Professional certification such as CPA or CFA is advantageous.
