About the position

The Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the role of Chief Financial Officer + Chief Operating Officer (CFO + COO). This pivotal position is part of the Executive Management Team and reports directly to the President and CEO. The CFO + COO will play a crucial role in advancing INHP's mission by providing strategic direction and expertise across five key areas: Executive Leadership, Financial Services, Information Technology, Operations/Administration, and Human Resources. In the realm of Executive Leadership, the incumbent will be responsible for strategic leadership, board governance, risk management, financial management, talent development, relationship building, advocacy, and promoting diversity within the organization. This role requires a visionary leader who can navigate complex challenges and foster a culture of excellence and inclusivity. The Financial Services Department will see the CFO + COO overseeing all treasury, budget, audit, tax, and accounting services. This includes managing complex financial transactions such as New Markets Tax Credits and Real Estate Development, ensuring liquidity, and developing investment strategies in collaboration with the Finance Committee. The incumbent will also lead the annual AERIS Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) rating process and ensure compliance with grant agreements. In Information Technology, the CFO + COO will manage information security, crisis management, and disaster recovery efforts. They will analyze technology challenges and opportunities, delivering innovative solutions that meet the organization's evolving needs. The role also involves leading the development of data dashboards for strategic planning and managing relationships with outsourced service providers. The Operations/Administration Department will require the incumbent to oversee office facilities management, corporate insurance plans, and emergency action plans. In Human Resources, the CFO + COO will lead recruitment, performance management, and employee benefits strategies, ensuring compliance with employment laws and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization. Additionally, the CFO + COO will be responsible for leading departmental recruiting, training, and professional development, as well as creating presentations for diverse groups, including the Board of Directors and community leaders. The role demands a strong focus on customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and the ability to perform complex financial analyses while communicating effectively with various stakeholders. The incumbent will also be expected to build and sustain partnerships across local, state, and national levels, demonstrating excellence in strategic thinking, management, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and expertise in Executive Leadership, Financial Services, Information Technology, Operations/Administration, and Human Resources.
  • Oversee all treasury, budget, audit, tax, and accounting services within the Financial Services Department.
  • Manage complex financial transactions and ensure compliance with grant agreements and contractual commitments.
  • Lead the development of data dashboards for strategic planning and reporting in Information Technology.
  • Oversee office facilities management and corporate insurance plans in Operations/Administration.
  • Lead recruitment, performance management, and employee benefits strategies in Human Resources.
  • Create and deliver presentations to diverse groups, including the Board of Directors and community leaders.
  • Evaluate assigned areas for customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
  • Perform complex financial analysis and communicate financial data effectively to various audiences.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with diverse organizations within a public/private structure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required; advanced degree and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA, MBA) preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant accounting/finance experience required, preferably in financial institutions, real estate, or nonprofit sectors.
  • At least five years of senior/executive level management experience required.
  • Experience leading a Human Resources function strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading an Information Technology function strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community development finance.
  • Knowledge of New Markets Tax Credits and Real Estate Development.
