About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Fairfield Memorial Hospital is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and managing all financial activities of the hospital. This position requires a strategic leader who will administer, direct, and monitor the financial operations while keeping the CEO, Deaconess Leadership, and the Board of Directors informed about the financial health of the organization. The CFO will be tasked with developing financial goals and objectives that align with the hospital's mission and vision, providing proactive guidance on asset management, investments, and financial trends that impact the organization. In addition to financial oversight, the CFO will play an integral role in hospital leadership, contributing to organizational performance and fostering a team-oriented culture. This position is based on-site at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, which is a fully-accredited, not-for-profit critical access hospital with 25 acute-care beds and a dedicated staff of over 250 employees. The medical staff includes more than 90 credentialed physicians and healthcare providers, ensuring a high standard of care across various services, including emergency care, surgical services, and rehabilitation therapies. The CFO will also be involved in the growth and development of the hospital's services, including the Horizon Healthcare clinic, which has expanded its reach since its opening in 2008.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and monitor all hospital financial activities.
  • Keep the CEO, Deaconess Leadership, and the Board of Directors informed of the financial condition of the organization.
  • Develop financial goals and objectives for the organization.
  • Provide proactive guidance regarding management of assets and investments.
  • Analyze financial trends within the organization and provide sound financial advice.
  • Participate in hospital leadership and contribute to organizational performance.
  • Foster a team-oriented culture within the hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • Master's degree in accounting or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of hospital financial management experience required.
  • Prior experience as a hospital CFO preferred.
  • Experience in a Critical Access Hospital preferred.
