About the position

The Chief Financial Office (CFO) Future Leaders Program at USAA is designed to develop entry-level talent into future leaders through a two-year rotational internship program. Participants will engage in meaningful projects, team assignments, and receive exposure to senior leaders while enhancing their business acumen and leadership skills. The program includes various assignments in areas such as Information Stewardship, Business Intelligence, Insight Delivery, and Data Science, providing interns with real-life experience and opportunities to contribute to the organization’s mission of facilitating financial security for military members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers business requirements by partnering with customers to define the business problem and data needs.
  • Ensures that information management practices are integrated into appropriate business and technology processes in support of the Information Governance policy.
  • Utilizes basic knowledge of multiple data structures and sources to support the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions.
  • Develops partnerships with IT execution teams on the development of analytic infrastructures and data engineering efforts.
  • Supports the delivery of business insights using machine learning, simulation, and optimization.
  • Acquires knowledge of data analysis techniques, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Partners with senior team members to develop and deploy models within the Model Development Life Cycle (MDLC) and Model Risk Management (MRM) framework.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a master's degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, actuarial sciences, or a similar quantitative discipline.
  • Graduation date cannot be prior to August 8, 2025.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in Information or Data related practices.
  • Foundational experience in one or more dynamic scripted languages (Python, R, etc.) and database query languages (SQL, HQL, NoSQL, etc.).
  • Foundational knowledge of classical supervised and unsupervised modeling concepts and technologies.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and data management platforms (Tableau, Business Objects, Snowflake, Hadoop, Netezza).
