About the position

Foster, a leader in the supply chain industry with over 120 years of stability and growth, is seeking a progressive and visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial aspects of our current 10-year plan and beyond. The CFO will be a senior member of our executive leadership team, serving as a business partner to the CEO and the executive team in the overall management of the company. This role is pivotal in planning, implementing, managing, and controlling the accounting, treasury, and finance activities, which include budgeting, forecasting, strategic and long-range business planning, and negotiations. The CFO will also oversee the Accounting and Information Technology Departments, ensuring corporate administrative oversight, regulatory compliance, external communications, and the authorization of all legal commitments. In this role, the CFO will be a key player and decision-maker, interacting continually with the CEO, ownership, executive team, and other leadership within the company, as well as external advisors as needed. The CFO will provide strategic analysis and recommendations to the CEO, advising on long-term business, financial, and administrative strategies as a key strategic executive team member and company fiduciary. The position requires the creation, direction, and approval of policies and processes for accounts receivable, credit/collections, accounts payable, and fixed assets. The CFO will manage financial forecasting and planning processes, oversee the preparation of all financial reporting, and develop robust systems for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and control. The CFO will also monitor and assess ongoing performance against company financial objectives, coordinate financial reporting, and ensure proper filing of tax returns. Active monitoring of financial risks and ensuring that risk mitigation strategies are in place will be essential. The role includes providing monthly communications and required presentations to the CEO, managing treasury, financing, cash management, and banking relations, and maintaining the integrity of the corporate costing methodology. The CFO will work closely with operations to ensure costs are consistent and appropriate for the business, comply with accounting standards, and maintain accurate product cost standards. Additionally, the CFO will lead M&A activities, develop and deploy enterprise-wide ESG standards, and establish corporate policies to ensure regulatory reporting and internal control compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a business partner to the CEO and executive team in overall management of the company.
  • Plan, implement, manage, and control accounting, treasury, and finance activities.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and strategic/long-range business planning.
  • Manage the Accounting and Information Technology Departments.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and external communications.
  • Authorize all legal commitments and manage real estate and risk management.
  • Provide strategic analysis and recommendations to the CEO.
  • Create, direct, and approve policies and processes for AR, Credit/Collections, AP, and Fixed Assets.
  • Manage financial forecasting and planning processes, including budgets and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain systems for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and control.
  • Monitor ongoing performance against financial objectives and assess financial risks.
  • Coordinate financial reporting and ensure proper filing of tax returns.
  • Manage Treasury, Financing, Cash Management, and Banking relations.
  • Maintain the integrity of the corporate costing methodology and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Lead M&A activities, including due diligence and integration of acquired entities.
  • Establish corporate policies for regulatory reporting and internal control compliance.
  • Review and negotiate supplier, customer, and service provider contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field is required.
  • MBA, CPA, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience as CFO, finance officer, or relevant role, preferably within a company in the $75M - $100M revenue range.
  • Proven track record of successfully scaling companies.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and financial management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the perishables industry or supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with ESG standards and practices.
  • Experience with corporate consolidation in accordance with US GAAP.
