About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of The EthicalEdge Group, ensuring compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) accounting and finance standards. The CFO will play a crucial role in developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals. This position requires a strong focus on compliance with the Public Funds Investment Act, effective management of public funds, and providing strategic financial leadership to support the organization's objectives. In this role, the CFO will lead the preparation of long-term financial plans, including capital budgeting and funding strategies. The position involves ensuring compliance with GASB accounting and financial reporting standards, overseeing the management and investment of public funds, and monitoring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to financial management. The CFO will also oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and budgets, providing detailed financial analysis to support decision-making processes. Additionally, the CFO will manage the organization's treasury operations, including cash management, investments, and debt management. This includes developing and implementing investment strategies in compliance with the Public Funds Investment Act and monitoring investment performance to maximize returns while minimizing risk. The CFO will lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic budgets and providing ongoing budget analysis to ensure financial goals are met. As a leader, the CFO will mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the Board of Directors and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory agencies. The CFO will represent the organization in financial discussions and ensure transparency and accuracy in all financial reporting, including audits and external reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Lead the preparation of long-term financial plans, including capital budgeting and funding strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with GASB accounting and financial reporting standards.
  • Oversee the management and investment of public funds in accordance with the Public Funds Investment Act.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to financial management.

  • Serve as the primary financial liaison to the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on financial performance and key issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in governmental accounting and finance, including GASB standards and the Public Funds Investment Act.
  • Strong understanding of public sector financial management, including budget preparation, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical financial management.

Nice-to-haves
