About the position

Our client, a non-profit organization based out of Baltimore, is offering a unique opportunity to play a key role in their organization as a CFO. They are seeking a mission-focused, hands-on individual who will have broad responsibilities spanning financial and information technology, contract administration, payroll/benefits, and office administration. You'll be the lead officer overseeing aspects including accounting, audit, federal financial assistance, budgets, endowment, physical assets, treasury, tax, and real estate. Your expert guidance will play an essential role in maintaining our financial integrity and partnering in strategic operations. As part of their executive management team, alongside the COO, CAO, and CMO, you'll be instrumental in shaping the organization's strategic direction and establishing sound financial policy. Key responsibilities will include strategic planning and implementation, fostering financial growth and stability, key leadership functions, enhancing external relations, and providing fiscal leadership. As a CFO, you will be responsible for a Finance team of four and an IT staff of one. They are looking for candidates with a demonstrated success managing the full financial functions of a large non-profit, preferably in the performing arts sector, and at least eight years of hands-on accounting experience. A CPA or MBA and experience with accounting systems and technology is required. An interest in the arts is desirable as well. Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial aspects including accounting, audit, federal financial assistance, budgets, endowment, physical assets, treasury, tax, and real estate.
  • Lead strategic planning and implementation to foster financial growth and stability.
  • Enhance external relations and provide fiscal leadership.
  • Manage a Finance team of four and an IT staff of one.
  • Establish sound financial policies and maintain financial integrity.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior finance role, preferably as a CFO.
  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field; CPA or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of Accounting Software Systems and Raiser's Edge software.
  • Demonstrable experience with ADP - Financial Services.
  • Proficient in CapEx and Accounting Functions.
  • Proven track record in Auditing and Budget Processes.
  • Solid experience in Capital Management and Cash Flow Analysis.
  • Experience in Streamlining processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Advanced knowledge in financial forecasting and corporate finance.
