About the position

We are looking to bring on board a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Randolph, Massachusetts. The CFO will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our transportation company. The successful candidate will be instrumental in strategizing, analyzing, and growing our financial position. This role is pivotal for the company's operations and requires effective communication as it involves a leadership role. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, ensuring that the company maintains a strong financial position while complying with all regulatory requirements. This includes managing cash flow, investments, and financial reporting, as well as coordinating the development of annual budgets and ensuring that financial practices align with the company's strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with the ability to lead a team and communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Taking charge of all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Coordinating the development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets
  • Ensuring cash flow compatibility with day-to-day operations
  • Overseeing accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities
  • Implementing best practices and tools for a well-controlled, yet flexible organization
  • Complying with national and local financial requirements by studying and adapting to existing and new legislation
  • Collaborating with senior managers to develop budget proposals and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
  • Researching revenue opportunities and economic trends, and identifying areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
  • Performing risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments
  • Evaluating and managing capital structure and fundraising initiatives
  • Monitoring business performance with tracking tools and preparing detailed reports for various stakeholders
  • Managing 401K and responsible for 5500 filings and audits
  • Conducting Workers Compensation audits
  • Working closely with our CPA firm regarding all tax matters, annual financial statement review audit.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
  • Working knowledge of how to raise capital outside traditional lines of credit

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
  • Minimum of 3 + years' experience in senior accounting and financial management practices
  • Experience in senior management position
