About the position

Our client is a non-profit organization based in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. The team is passionate, driven, and committed to a great cause, and are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join them in the mission. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial aspects of the organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting, ensuring the effective stewardship of our resources to support our mission and goals. In this role, you will develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization. You will prepare and manage annual budgets, working closely with program managers and department heads to align financial resources with organizational priorities. Monitoring and analyzing financial performance against budget and forecast will be key, as you provide timely and accurate financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. You will oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Managing cash flow and investments will also be part of your responsibilities, optimizing the use of funds to support organizational objectives. Collaboration with fundraising and development teams will be essential to support grant proposals, donor stewardship, and fundraising events, providing financial expertise and guidance. Additionally, you will lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with audit requirements. Providing strategic financial advice and support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors will assist in decision-making and long-term planning initiatives. Staying abreast of relevant financial trends, regulations, and best practices in the non-profit sector will be crucial, as you continuously seek opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, financial planning, and budgeting processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.
