About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead the financial operations of a mission-driven government or non-profit organization, ensuring long-term sustainability and compliance with financial regulations. This role involves strategic financial guidance, oversight of financial activities, and collaboration with senior management to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensure adherence to GAAP, government regulations, and non-profit standards.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, coordinate audits and tax filings, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, donors, grant providers, and financial institutions, ensuring transparency in all financial dealings.
  • Supervise the finance team, provide leadership, and set performance goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership to offer financial analysis, strategic advice, and identify areas for operational improvements and cost optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master's degree or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial role (7+ years).
  • Previous experience in government or non-profit sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit fiscal management and financial compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and strong analytical abilities.
