About the position
The CFX Production Development Intern at DreamWorks Animation is an opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the Character Effects department. The intern will work closely with the CFX Production Development team to develop tools for CFX shot production, becoming familiar with workflows and techniques used in animated feature films. This role emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and technical skills in a supportive studio environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of tools for CFX shot production.
- Familiarize with CFX workflows and techniques.
- Write and test tools in production shots.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
- Demo tool usage to CFX Artists and write documentation.
- Participate in production shot work to understand Character Effects tools.
Requirements
- Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree or be a recent graduate (within six months of graduation date).
- Experience with computer animation software such as Maya and Houdini.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- For remote internship, must have own equipment and stable high-speed internet connection.
- For hybrid internship, must be willing to work in Glendale, California.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Willingness to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Python.
- Experience working with a team to create computer animated shots.
- Knowledge of general simulation and deformer workflows.
- Familiarity with Maya API, Houdini HDK, and Houdini Digital Asset construction.
- Familiarity with C++ and Houdini VEX language.
