About the position

The Chair of Communication Science and Disorders and Speech-Language Pathology at Gannon University is a full-time, 12-month tenure track position responsible for leading the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program and Speech-Language Pathology Program. The role emphasizes student-centered learning, professional education, and scholarly engagement, while promoting the university's inclusive mission and Catholic identity. The position begins in July 2024 and requires a strong commitment to teaching, scholarship, and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Communication Sciences and Disorders and Speech-Language Pathology programs.
  • Promote student-centered learning and support student learning outcomes.
  • Engage in scholarly activities aligned with the Boyer Model of Scholarship.
  • Advise students and facilitate their academic and professional development.
  • Collaborate with faculty and other health professions in the college.
  • Oversee the curriculum and ensure alignment with certification requirements for the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
  • Manage the SLP clinic space for supervised student learning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time higher education experience.
  • Effective leadership within a CSD or SLP program with faculty and students.
  • Successful teaching methods and productive scholarship as a core faculty member in a SLP program for at least five full-time years.
  • Academic doctoral degree in a relevant discipline of speech-language pathology.
  • Minimum rank of assistant professor.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Eligibility for Pennsylvania SLP licensure.
