The Chair of the Tandy School of Computer Science at the University of Tulsa will lead the school in its mission to enhance its prominence as a research-intensive institution. This role involves inspiring faculty and students, overseeing academic programs, and fostering research initiatives in key areas such as artificial intelligence and cyber-physical systems. The Chair will also be responsible for faculty management, student engagement, and promoting diversity and inclusivity within the school.

  • Advocate for the Tandy School of Computer Science.
  • Teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Engage in active research that complements existing research areas.
  • Oversee and manage school faculty and staff, including performance reviews and professional development.
  • Lead efforts to recruit and retain talented faculty, promoting diversity and inclusivity.
  • Coordinate recruiting of prospective undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Support and promote academic student activities and initiatives.
  • Promote student-student and student-faculty engagements.
  • Coordinate CS Advisory Board meetings.
  • Champion outreach efforts and promote achievements to stakeholders.
  • Oversee the school budget and program accreditation processes.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop course offerings for each semester.
  • Provide leadership for all aspects of the school.
  • Balance the school's needs with the college's broader interests.
  • Earned Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Record of teaching, research, and scholarly accomplishments commensurate with the rank of full professor with tenure.
  • Experience in building and sustaining collaborative cross-disciplinary research.
  • Experience with program accreditation processes for ABET and other national accreditation bodies.
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with alumni, industry partners, and federal funding agencies.
  • Excellent communication and managerial skills to support faculty, students, and staff.
  • Experience in framing and executing enrollment and recruitment efforts.
  • Experience with budgets and personnel matters.
