About the position

The Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry is a full-time faculty position at the associate or full professor level, responsible for providing leadership in education, research, and service within the department. The Chair will oversee predoctoral and postdoctoral education, promote a positive learning environment, and engage in departmental planning and budgeting. This role also includes opportunities for faculty practice and requires eligibility for licensure in Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide innovative leadership and advocacy in predoctoral and postdoctoral education, patient care, research, and service.
  • Promote a humanistic and positive learning environment for students, residents, faculty, and staff.
  • Oversee departmental planning, budgeting, staffing, and supervision.
  • Identify and cultivate internal and external partnerships for collaborative opportunities.
  • Mentor faculty and staff to develop a dynamic and growing department.

Requirements

  • DDS/DMD or equivalent degree with advanced training in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Experience in the field of Pediatric Dentistry with a demonstrated record of teaching and academic leadership.
  • Credentials meriting appointment to the rank of associate or full professor.
  • Minimum of five years of administrative supervisory experience.
  • Effective communication skills and experience working across diverse areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board certification in Pediatric Dentistry is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in successful research and involvement in dental education.
