About the position

The Change Control Function Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the Technology Change Control practice and managing a team of change control managers. This position requires experience in a fast-paced environment where application, infrastructure, security, and network changes are implemented daily. The ideal candidate will enhance a mature Change Management group, ensuring effective change processes and risk management while driving automation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Define strategic direction for maturing the Change Control practice and drive improvement.
  • Guide the Change Management function to review change requests and ensure requests are complete, accurate and follow established procedures.
  • Assess risk and drive actions to ensure changes are prepared to be executed without impact.
  • Determine requirements for auto-approval of changes and drive toward automation where possible.
  • Work with teams on unsuccessful changes to ensure issues are corrected and prevent repeated mistakes.
  • Engage with Technology peers early in the lifecycle to ensure change preparation is completed in advance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams on change, release & deployment processes.
  • Ensure changes are properly communicated, including publishing a change/release calendar and notifying stakeholders.
  • Drive to optimize data collected relative to changes and deployments to identify issues, risks & opportunities.
  • Contribute to improving change, release & deployment related metrics and reports.
  • Define and refine Change Management processes & policies, including setting requirements for changes & releases.
  • Respond to Auditor requests related to Change Management and mitigate any audit issues.
  • Coordinate with the Configuration Management team to ensure the CMDB is updated as changes are deployed.
  • Coordinate with the ServiceNow team to leverage tooling and automation for efficiency.
  • Set a team mission and vision, define team goals, and maintain a document of roles & responsibilities.
  • Assess opportunities for improvement in processes or tooling.
  • Set high standards for self and others and drive for measurable results.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, even during challenging times.
  • Build strong relationships and partnerships with leaders and staff members from other teams.
  • Support others with development of skills and capabilities and provide mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years working with ITIL practices, including 5 years of experience with Change Control and Release Management.
  • Minimum 10 years working in a Technology organization.
  • Minimum 3 years managing a team of change control managers.
  • Strong problem solver with creative thought leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create clear, concise, engaging and polished presentations & reports.
  • Effective facilitator with a basic understanding of applications and infrastructure technologies.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive customer and team member relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence change.
