About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled Change Management and Communications Specialist to join our team in supporting the IRS. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing change initiatives and effectively communicating with various stakeholders to ensure smooth transitions and successful project outcomes. This position requires a proactive approach to change management, focusing on maximizing employee adoption and minimizing resistance through well-structured strategies and plans. The ideal candidate will be adept at conducting impact analyses, assessing change readiness, and identifying key stakeholders to facilitate effective change processes. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and executing change management activities, which include training, communications, and stakeholder engagement. You will monitor and report on change management progress, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies to address potential challenges. Additionally, you will provide coaching and support to leaders and managers to facilitate successful change initiatives, ensuring that all team members are aligned and informed throughout the process. Effective communication is a cornerstone of this role. You will develop comprehensive communication plans that align with change management strategies and project goals. Crafting clear, concise, and compelling messages for various communication channels, including emails, newsletters, presentations, and intranet updates, will be essential. You will coordinate and execute communication activities, ensuring timely and consistent messaging while engaging with stakeholders to gather feedback and measure communication effectiveness. Fostering a culture of open communication and transparency within the organization will be a key focus area. Collaboration is also vital in this position. You will work closely with project teams, including IT, HR, and business units, to integrate change management and communication efforts into overall project plans. Collaborating with external partners and vendors will ensure seamless delivery of change management and communication initiatives. Acting as a liaison between project teams and stakeholders, you will address concerns and provide updates as needed, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged throughout the change process.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business Administration, Change Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in change management and communications, preferably within a federal agency or large organization.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Asana.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Certification in change management (e.g., Prosci) is a plus.
