About the position

The Changeover Crew plays a vital role in the successful execution of events at the North Charleston Coliseum, Convention and Performing Arts Centers. This part-time position involves a variety of physical tasks that are essential for setting up and breaking down equipment for events. The crew is responsible for ensuring that all necessary equipment is in place and functioning properly before events, and for dismantling and storing equipment after events conclude. This role requires a proactive approach to equipment management, including surveying for any damage or disrepair and reporting issues as necessary. In addition to setup and breakdown duties, the Changeover Crew assists with maintenance and repair of equipment, ensuring that all tools and materials are in good working order. Housekeeping duties may also be assigned, contributing to the overall cleanliness and organization of the facilities. The crew must be flexible and ready to assist staff in various operational areas, performing other tasks as assigned by supervisors. This position is crucial for maintaining the high standards expected at the facilities and ensuring a seamless experience for event attendees. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under time constraints. Crew members must be prepared to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, reflecting the dynamic nature of event scheduling. Responsibilities

  • Set-up and break down equipment as directed, including stages, risers, seating, and other event-related items.
  • Survey equipment before and after events for damage or disrepair and report findings as necessary.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as assigned to maintain cleanliness in the facilities.
  • Assist staff in various operational areas and perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to perform various physical tasks related to event setup and breakdown.
  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment effectively.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to access all areas of the facilities and perform physical labor.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and walk long distances.
  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
