About the position

The Chaplain position at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a highly responsible role focused on providing religious services and support to residents and their families. The Chaplain will collaborate with various sections within the facility, utilizing independent judgment and attention to detail to fulfill their duties. This role includes conducting religious services, counseling, managing budgets, and coordinating special religious observances, ensuring a supportive environment for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an array of religious services to residents and families.
  • Conduct religious services, devotionals, Bible studies, and counseling.
  • Prepare and provide weekend services on a rotation basis.
  • Manage Welfare Trust Fund Budgets, including creating, monitoring, and reconciling accounts.
  • Oversee all Religious Services equipment and inventory of supplies.
  • Assist with resident complaints and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct resident satisfaction surveys and assist residents in completing forms.
  • Coordinate special religious observances for major holidays.
  • Assist in special events coordinated by Volunteer Services.
  • Supervise, monitor, recruit, and schedule religious volunteers.
  • Provide opportunities for community outings to local churches and religious events.
  • Perform funerals, memorial services, and grief counseling as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in theology, religion, education, or social/behavioral sciences, or graduation from a seminary.
  • Must be ordained and possess a current written approbation or endorsement from an ecclesiastical body.
  • One year of experience in conducting religious services or providing counseling.

  • Knowledge of theological theories and counseling techniques.
  • Ability to conduct a variety of religious services and activities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
