About the position

The Chaplain - Per Diem position is responsible for providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families, caregivers, and team members within a clinical environment. This role involves assessing spiritual needs, offering direct chaplaincy services, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. The chaplain will also document interactions and provide consultation and support to other team members as needed.

Responsibilities

• Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team by attending conferences and support meetings.
• Assess each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members.
• Provide direct chaplaincy services to patients, family members, and caregivers of various philosophies and religious perspectives.
• Consult with the patient's clergy of choice if requested by the patient or family and advise them on admission.
• Document all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame.
• Provide consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate.
• Assist with training programs and in-service education as requested.

Requirements

• 4 Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required.
• Master's Degree in a related field of study (Required).
• Board Certification within the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) within two years of employment.
• Ordination/Commissioning or Ecclesiastical Endorsement.
