About the position

This one-year residency at Roper Hospital allows for engagement in Clinical Pastoral Education in accordance with the standards set by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation. The primary function of this position is to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families, visitors, and staff. The resident will work collaboratively with the Department of Pastoral Care staff and participate in various department activities and events. Additionally, the position requires providing on-call pastoral care coverage on a rotating basis, ensuring that spiritual support is available at all times. The role is designed to foster the development of skills necessary for effective ministry within a healthcare setting, emphasizing the importance of understanding the diverse needs of patients across different age groups, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The resident will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span and possess the ability to assess and interpret data reflective of each patient's status. This position is not just about providing care but also about being a compassionate presence in the lives of those who are experiencing some of their most challenging moments. The job may also involve performing other duties as required by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in theology required.
  • Master of Divinity preferred.
  • One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
