This one-year residency at Roper Hospital allows for engagement in Clinical Pastoral Education in accordance with the standards set by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation. The primary function of this position is to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families, visitors, and staff. The resident will work collaboratively with the Department of Pastoral Care staff and participate in various department activities and events. Additionally, the position requires providing on-call pastoral care coverage on a rotating basis, ensuring that spiritual support is available at all times. The role is designed to foster the development of skills necessary for effective ministry within a healthcare setting, emphasizing the importance of understanding the diverse needs of patients across different age groups, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The resident will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span and possess the ability to assess and interpret data reflective of each patient's status.
