About the position

The Chapter Leader, Infrastructure Automation Engineering at National Grid is responsible for leading a cross-functional team focused on developing innovative infrastructure automation solutions. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of innovative capabilities and implement processes that align with organizational goals.

  • Establish standards and define expected practices based on industry best practices.
  • Map expected competencies and design career paths for team members.
  • Track supply and demand for Chapter resources and collaborate with leadership for optimal allocation.
  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the infrastructure automation engineering community.
  • Organize workshops and training programs to upskill teams and keep them current on emerging trends.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in strategic technology leadership and IT infrastructure management.
  • Proficiency in developing infrastructure automation solutions in Azure or AWS environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Strong background in cloud networking and working in regulated secure environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, C#, SQL, and Python for automation tasks.
  • Experience working in Agile methodologies like SAFE, Scrum, or Kanban.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Service Now and Microsoft Teams as interfaces.
  • Experience with containerization tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of integrated development tools like GitHub for version control.
