Charge Entry and Payment Posting Specialist

About the position

Acuet RCM is seeking a full-time Charge Entry and Payment Posting Specialist to handle front-end operations related to medical billing. This role involves accurately entering charges, posting payments, and managing claims for ASC facilities, ensuring compliance with various payor guidelines. The position emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, with opportunities for cross-training in other roles within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for charge entry and payment posting for claims associated with ASC Facilities.
• Accurately enter all charges into the billing system, ensuring completeness and correctness of all data received by coding specialists.
• Understand different payor guidelines as it pertains to additional add-on coding.
• Prepare and submit billing claims daily to insurance companies via clearinghouse, fax, email, or standard mail.
• Correct/work claim rejections in the clearinghouse.
• Post both ERA and manual payments, both insurance and patient.
• Review and analyze any patient overpayments made and their need for refunding.
• Balance all payment transactions from EMR to daily deposit log.
• Cross-train with other positions in the organization to promote better collaboration and teamwork.

Requirements

• 1 year experience in Medical Payment Posting and/or charge entry required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Fundamental understanding of medical coding concepts.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to generate, read, interpret, and take action based on basic financial statements and regulations.
• Ability to run reports and understand insurance correspondences.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively and maintain good working relationships.
• Problem-solving skills and customer service orientation.
