About the position

The Charge Master Coordinator is responsible for the accurate establishment of clinical charge capture, resolving charge system problems, and analyzing current systems to identify improvements. This role involves performing audits, maintaining various charge-related files, and ensuring effective communication between departments regarding charge master modifications. The coordinator will also generate reports, resolve errors, and coordinate annual updates to coding systems, all while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Establish accurate clinical charge capture and resolve charge system problems.
  • Perform audits to ensure all charges are captured appropriately.
  • Maintain EAP and Fee Schedule, MPI, JBF, and other master files.
  • Communicate chargemaster changes to relevant departments and systems.
  • Assist in maintaining historic CDM and EPIC files.
  • Serve as a communication link between staff, physicians, and revenue cycle director.
  • Generate reports of EAP master charges and upload data in EPIC.
  • Work with application teams to build charge capture methods and reports.
  • Resolve errors identified through EPIC work queues.
  • Coordinate analysis for annual CPT and HCPCS code updates.
  • Coordinate with Craneware Software Support to minimize downtime.
  • Perform analysis using Craneware Bill Analyzer.
  • Review coding and billing updates and communicate with departments.
  • Resolve coding-related errors and denials identified by the billing system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in healthcare related field.
  • Experience with outpatient Medicare and Medicaid coding and billing regulations.
  • Knowledge of chargemaster components including CPT, HCPCS, and revenue codes.
  • Hospital or Physician coding and billing experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of hospital charging systems and charge capture processes.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of experience with ICD-10 coding.
