About the position

The purpose of the role is to provide direct clinical supervision to assist in maintaining appropriate clinical standards and to facilitate the functioning of nursing units or assigned area for a defined shift. This position is critical in ensuring that the nursing staff adheres to the highest standards of care and that patients receive the best possible treatment during their stay. The role requires a strong understanding of nursing practices, the ability to mentor and lead a team, and the capacity to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological stages of human growth and development, which is essential for providing effective patient care. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for setting priorities and making appropriate decisions that impact patient outcomes and staff performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical supervision to nursing staff during assigned shifts.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical standards within the nursing units.
  • Facilitate the functioning of nursing units or assigned areas.
  • Mentor and teach nursing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Make informed decisions regarding patient care and staff management.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required or must obtain by December 31, 2019.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare/medical nursing, specifically in an acute care specialty setting.
  • Current RN III status within Valley Health or meets criteria to be hired as an RN III.
  • Must possess a valid RN Nursing License and BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) from an AHA approved provider.
  • National certification by a specialty organization is preferred.
