About The Position

The Charge Nurse position at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is responsible for overseeing the nursing care provided to residents, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with regulations. This role involves supervising nursing staff, participating in care planning, and directly caring for veterans in a skilled nursing facility dedicated to fostering independence and dignity.

Requirements

• Must have a valid RN license in Kentucky or a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred, with two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises professional ancillary employees in the administration of efficient nursing care of residents.
• Assesses, plans, and evaluates care of residents.
• Participates in the care planning process.
• Responds to emergency situations and participates in all aspects of direct care.
• Monitors medication passes and treatment schedules.
• Participates in staff education and serves as a preceptor in new employee orientation.
• Reassigns staff according to resident acuity.
• Performs other duties as required.
