About the position
The Bus Driver at Alert Ambulance Service Inc. is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation for non-ambulatory or disabled individuals. This part-time role requires adherence to company policies and procedures while ensuring the vehicle is properly maintained and stocked. The driver must communicate effectively with dispatch and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and efficient transportation to non-ambulatory or disabled persons.
- Read and understand the company's Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Report on time and in uniform for assigned shifts in good mental and physical health.
- Ensure the assigned vehicle is stocked, serviced, and cleaned as specified by the daily checklist.
- Check and maintain biomedical equipment in accordance with manufacturers' standards.
- Perform all job tasks assigned by the Base Supervisor or other managerial personnel with a positive attitude.
- Maintain cleanliness of base living quarters including bunkroom, TV room, bathrooms, and garage bay.
- Greet inspection personnel and officials professionally and courteously.
- Complete equipment checklist and vehicle inspection at the start of the shift.
- Respond to assigned facilities or addresses to provide care and transportation.
- Maintain constant communication with dispatch while on the road.
- Complete documentation on all calls legibly and to company standards.
- Ensure the vehicle is cleaned and appropriately stocked before and after shifts.
- Familiarize oneself with the service area and facilities.
- Maintain professional radio procedures according to company policy.
Requirements
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
- Ability to lift and carry 125 pounds.
- Maintain an active Driver's License.
- Maintain all appropriate and mandated credentials as defined by the company.
