About the position

The Checker is primarily responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction and managing front-end operations at the supermarket. This role involves engaging with customers, performing checkout duties, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The Checker also assists with various tasks as assigned by management to enhance the overall shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests upon their entry.
• Scan all items accurately, starting from the bottom of the basket.
• Properly verify customer IDs when purchasing alcohol and tobacco products.
• Assist guests in locating items within the store.
• Encourage guest participation in satisfaction surveys and rewards programs.
• Promote participation in promotional programs, such as the Monopoly Game.
• Adhere to the dress code as outlined in the team member handbook.
• Follow attendance and tardiness guidelines as per the team member handbook.
• Perform sacker duties when necessary and replace sack supplies as needed.
• Occasionally perform stocker duties as assigned by management.
• Complete other duties as requested or required by management.

Requirements

• Must maintain Alcohol Seller/Server Certification.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Capability to perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, walking, squatting, climbing, and running.
• Proficient in operating checkout equipment and keeping accurate records.
• Ability to count money and make change accurately.
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs. regularly and place items weighing up to 80 lbs. in vehicles.
• Willingness to accept supervisory coaching regarding performance and work habits.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member.
