About the position

The Cheese Shop Clerk at Mariano's, part of the Kroger family, is responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. This part-time role involves maintaining a safe and clean environment, assisting the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, and ensuring quality assurance standards are met. The clerk will work closely with the Deli/Baker Merchandising team to engage customers and promote the store's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
• Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Assist department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.
• Monitor and control all established quality assurance standards.
• Work closely with the Deli/Baker Merchandising team to create an engaging environment for customers.
• Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of Cheese Shop specials and provide fresh products as ordered.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review 'sell by' dates.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and safety risks.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Requirements

• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• High school education or equivalent.
