About the position
The position at Murray's Cheese involves supporting a full-service cheese retail experience, focusing on customer interaction, product knowledge, and merchandising. The role emphasizes learning about cheese, engaging with customers, and embodying the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Murray's Cheese Master to create an inviting and theatrical retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Cut, wrap, and merchandise cheese and related grocery items.
- Engage in active demoing within the Murray's Cheese Shop, Deli, and other areas.
- Provide proactive customer service through ongoing conversations and tastings with customers.
- Conduct daily cheese tastings to develop product expertise; must be willing to taste cheese every day.
- Contribute to target sales and gross profit goals.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products.
- Comply with Murray's operations manual, ensuring a consistently fully stocked, fresh, signed, and rotated product selection.
- Complete Murray's Basic Skills Training and Murray's Red Jacket Training.
- Create and maintain the Murray's Boutique experience through education, service, effective cross-selling, and merchandising.
Requirements
- A strong desire to learn and enthusiasm for the product.
- Interest in and openness to try cheese daily.
- Retail experience is preferred.
- Ability to inspire and motivate customers while ensuring successful completion of all assigned tasks.
