SAGE Dining Services® is expanding and seeking food service professionals in Seattle, WA, to provide exceptional dining experiences that delight the senses, inspire minds, and foster community for private schools and colleges. Unlike traditional school food, SAGE offers a unique culinary experience where talented chefs prepare meals from scratch, reflecting local and regional foods, flavors, and culinary styles. Our culinary teams excel in cooking methods, recipe development, and presentation, making every dining experience truly unique. Catering events organized by SAGE rival those of five-star restaurants, showcasing the skills of our chefs and culinary teams. The ideal candidates for management positions at SAGE are not only skilled in kitchen operations but also excel in front-of-the-house presentation. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for food and desire a work schedule that is more life-friendly than that of a typical restaurant. All management positions are salaried and paid year-round, providing stability and a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $75,000. As a Chef Manager, you will be responsible for planning cycle menus, leading daily production, enforcing safety protocols, and delivering outstanding customer service. You will manage ordering and inventory, deliver incredible catering events, and participate in the hiring, training, and mentoring of your team. This role requires substantial culinary knowledge, high-end catering experience, and the ability to lead and mentor others in a positive and engaging manner. Responsibilities

  • Plan cycle menus and lead daily production (hands on).
  • Enforce safety protocols and lead by example.
  • Deliver an outstanding example of customer service to your team and to the community we serve.
  • Manage ordering and inventory.
  • Deliver incredible catering events rivaling 5 star restaurants.
  • Participate in the interviewing, hiring, training and ongoing mentoring of the team.
  • Participate in general location management with the Food Service management team.

Requirements

  • Customer service skills
  • High end catering and high-volume banquet experience.
  • Substantial culinary knowledge: trends, techniques, and processes.
  • Menu planning and production experience.
  • Minimum five years culinary experience.
  • Minimum five years managing others in the kitchen.
  • Ability to lead, not manage others and to mentor the team.
  • Desire to mentor the team and lift others to continue a culture of extreme ownership.
  • Happy disposition, both for community and team interactions.
  • Awesome references and solid resume.
  • Current ServSafe® certification, as well as local health department certification, where required.
