About the position

The assessor role at SGS involves performing assessments based on the bluesign® criteria, supporting brands in the American market with certification of their consumer products, and coordinating quality assurance activities. This position requires a strong understanding of textile manufacturing processes and the ability to conduct evaluations and follow-ups to ensure compliance with sustainability standards.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of assessments according to the bluesign® criteria
• Pre-evaluation of preparation documents
• Conduct company assessments onsite with report writing and related evaluations
• Follow-up on the roadmap for achieving compliance with the bluesign® criteria
• Actualization and maintenance of the business process leading IT tool
• Perform annual follow-up assessments to monitor continuous improvement
• Project work as needed and agreed
• Evaluate Bill of Materials for consumer products intended for certification
• Collect samples and organize testing for quality assurance checks, including follow-up of potential fails
• Support customers for web-based platform

Requirements

• Educational background in engineering, natural science, or a technical degree, ideally textile related (e.g., textile engineer, chemical engineer, environmental scientist or similar)
• Knowledge of textile manufacturing processes and/or chemical processes and the textile supply chain
• Knowledge in the field of product stewardship, classification and labelling, as well as regulatory affairs
• Knowledge in the fields of environment, health and safety
• Knowledge in the field of assessment practices
• Professional experience within the textile, accessory, or chemical manufacturing sector
• Good English skills, especially written
